Historical Notes for Wicket

Chapter 2

Benjamin Bear
A traditional teddy bear that has been mine since I was four years old.
As I liked to tell it, my younger brother Benjamin was named after my bear (he was born around the same time I got the toy -- and the teddy bear had his name printed on his label, so I know it couldn't have been the other way around). However, it's much more likely that both my brother and I were named after literary bunnies (or so my Mom facetiously claims) or the Biblical characters.
invisible
Apparently, I had a thing for being able to turn invisible.

Chapter 3

Bobby
He was my best friend through most of grade school.
Jon & Joe
Bobby's two younger brothers.
Fluffy
Their dog. I didn't like dogs -- still don't, really.

Chapter 4

Benjy
My aforementioned younger brother

Chapter 5

same
Even in third grade, I could tell that things were getting a bit repetative.

Chapter 6

German
Later in life (ie, junior high and high school), I took some German classes, but I don't remember that I knew much German in third grade. Apparently, at the time I was writing these stories, I knew a few words (or pretended I did).

Chapter 7

Chad
A classmate.

Chapter 8

weren't ... surprised
Hey, we're beginning to see a pattern! :-)

Chapter 19

Toshiki
He was a Japanese exchange student that my family had hosted.

Chapter 23

Jason
You guessed it. Another friend.
Animal
The drummer from the Muppets. This particular incarnation was a puppet.

Chapter 27

other verse
Here's the second verse:
    Baby Ewoks, they're like rice,
        They don't have any advice.
Baby Ewoks, they are also cute.
        They only wear one boot.
Even at the tender age of 10, I realized that the second verse was really not worth publishing. Of course, now I don't care -- so what if the quality is a bit embarrassing.
